The First Post about Museum of Fine Art

The first topic that came to my mind during my visit of MFA this time is about "the perspective".

The perspective from where you see the painting actually change how I feel about the painting, especially couple landscape paintings from Monet. I found this is a unique way to experience the art like I never did before. You can't really do it from the photograph of the painting online or elsewhere. This makes me appreciate my time going to different art museums more.

The two photos below show the same painting but at a different angle. Looking at the painting at the 45 degree angle gives me a sense of three dimensions from the painting which is gone as soon as I stepped right outside the painting.

Story about Pixar

In the past two weeks, I had experience several things related to Pixar from a book written by the president of Pixar, a new Pixar film, a documentary about Pixar and the exhibition titled "Science behind Pixar". Thus, I would like this chance to write about what I have learned from this period of learning about Pixar and share my obsession about the company.

A Book written by the president of Pixar

I started this journey when I decided to pick up a book called "Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration" by Ed Catmull and Amy Wallace as one of Mark Zuckerberg's recommended books. Ed Catmull is the co-founder and current president of Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios. Even though the premise of the book is not solely on the history of Pixar, but instead the management of creative enterprise, it still manages to tell different accounts related to Pixar as an example. Being a co-founder of Pixar, Ed had a first-hand experience with all the ups and downs in Pixar ranging from founding the company with the help from Steve Job, achieving an incredible success after its first movie "Toy Story", to facing different struggles as the company expanded and merged with Disney in 2006.

     Boston is one of big cities that I have never really experienced until now. I have heard many good things about this city and looked forward to seeing it. Apart from many great restaurants and all great schools in Boston, one thing that I forget about this city is the American history lying behind this great city. Boston is the city where American Revolutionary War started and the United States was born here. There are so much more in this city that I have not had enough time to learn, so I wish I will have a chance to come back some time soon.

     Bunker Hill from the photo above is really similar to Washington Monument in Washington DC. I'm not quite sure which one is built first. The park ranger told us that the reason for the monument to be like this is because American did not win on this hill. They tried as hard as they could but without supplies and a good leader, they could not conquer the British troops. Not until George Washington came later and reorganized the whole military that American armies could win the war.
